The City of Melville’s Bob Gordon Reserve in Bull Creek will transform into a premier play space.

The City of Melville’s Bob Gordon Reserve in Bull Creek will transform into a premier play space with bespoke play equipment inspired by a former UFO-themed icon of the area.

Construction is scheduled to take place from February to July 2022 and will include building a Futuro House-inspired play space with fencing, seating, shelters, barbeques and toilets, as well as rehabilitating natural areas, building a yarning circle and realigning connecting pathways through the reserve.

City of Melville Mayor the Hon. George Gear JP said the project was developed in response to a petition from community members living in Leeming and Bull Creek, who wanted to see a high quality gathering and premier play space located in the south-eastern neighbourhood.

“We engaged with residents of Bull Creek and Leeming, who came together to form a Community Reference Group and identified the location and style for the new play space,” said Mayor Gear.

“We then asked the wider community, local elders, site users, and our Access Advisory Panel for feedback on the draft concept, which was then incorporated into the final design.

“The play space is inspired by a well-loved and fondly remembered icon of this area, the Futuro House, which I’m sure will trigger memories for some and help create memories for others, as well as inspire a sense of adventure and play.”

Concept plans of the play space, as well as information about the upcoming construction works are available on the Projects and Works webpage.
