New partnerships bring more live music to the City of Melville

Two new music series are set to call Melville home.

Two new music series are set to call Melville home, with the City of Melville partnering with local producers to deliver more live music and events.

Creative Producer Pete Stone said the partnerships with Groove Music and Tender is the Night were the next evolution in an expanding arts program.

“We have four brand new music series on offer from August to March boasting high quality and eclectic programming that offers something for everyone,” said Mr Stone.

“We are particularly excited to be working with curators Cindy Wiese and Leigh Gardiner to help support these two new series.”

The first of three monthly Groove Music performances will kick off on Friday, 20 August and feature jazz artist Libby Hammer and musical collaborators Chris Foster (piano), Nick Abbey (doublebass) and Michael Perkins (drums).

The intimate jazz performances are supported by the City through the Night Time Activation Grant program and will test the appetite for world class live jazz, jazz fusion and soul music performances in the heart of Melville.

In September, Tender is the Night live music performances will commence with indie-folk headliners Simone & Girlfunkle and support from Tanaya Harper.

The seasonal series of intimate gigs pair West Australian songwriters with a string quartet to bridge and blur the lines of classical and contemporary music.

This month will also see the third instalment of Goolugatup Sounds, a new program of cutting-edge contemporary music at Goolugatup Heathcote Gallery.

The City of Melville is also currently developing a new-look Limestone Concert series and the full program will be announced soon.
