A City-wide call out for Melville’s first ever Community Feedback Panel is launching today to attract expressions of interest from community members who are willing to help provide feedback to the City on a variety of issues.
Convened by the City of Melville and facilitated by Elton Consulting independent of the City, the community panel will provide feedback on a range of the City’s key projects and strategies and be used to test ideas and approaches, although it won’t be a decision-making panel.
Both the selection of members and facilitation of the panel will be carried out by Elton Consulting with members appointed for 12 months and meetings generally held bimonthly. Panel members will be remunerated $100 per person for each in person meeting.
The Hon. Mayor George Gear JP said the Community Feedback Panel was a new idea for Melville and one that embraces the City’s new proposed vision - Engaging with our diverse community to achieve an inclusive, vibrant and sustainable future which is currently before Council at the September Ordinary Meeting.
“Our new organisational vision highlights our strengthened focus on engaging with our community and through this Community Feedback Panel we will be looking forward to hearing the voices of our diverse community to help inform the services we provide and decisions we make,” said Mayor Gear.
“We also appreciate these are challenging times and that by committing to the panel the members will be giving the gift of their time, so we have included $100 remuneration per meeting to recognise this and to assist those who are willing to contribute to their community on a really broad variety of issues and topics.
“If you haven’t participated in a community panel before, this is your opportunity.”
- The City is seeking a diverse group of members with a wide range of views and perspectives.
- The City is seeking panel members who will be broadly representative of the Melville community both demographically and geographically.
- Residents from the City can apply via an EOI and members will be selected at random by an independent facilitator.
