LeisureFit Centres reopening update

18 May 2020

LeisureFit Centres will remain closed to the public at large during Phase 2 of the State Government's easing of restrictions.

After careful consideration of Premier Mark McGowan’s announcement of the easing of restrictions for fitness facilities and pools from Monday, 18 May, the City has made the difficult decision to keep our LeisureFit Centres closed to the public at large, at this time.

We are working to stage the re-opening of our facilities and services during Phase 3 of the State Government’s relaxation of restrictions, pending further information from the State on what the further relaxation of restrictions for gyms, health clubs and indoor sports centres looks like during this stage.

Although we won’t be re-opening our facilities to the public at large during Phase 2, we are looking into whether we can provide swimming squad competition swimmers limited access to our pool prior to Phase 3, to allow some of our athletes to get back to training as soon as possible.

We understand this will be disappointing news for some of our members. This was not a decision we made lightly. The operation of large recreation facilities is very complex and only being able to offer limited services under the current restrictions poses challenges to ensuring we can offer equitable and practicable access to these services for approximately 4,000 members. We also had to weigh up the considerable costs involved in operating two large complexes for the limited number of patrons we are permitted to have.

We appreciate everyone is keen to return to LeisureFit as soon as possible, but ask for your patience as we get our centres back up and running where it is safe, responsible and practical to do so.

Even though our facilities are closed for the time being, we are still available and are offering a number of services to help keep our members active and healthy during this time:

  • Trainer call-back: Have a free one-on-one consultation with one of our accredited personal trainers who can develop a personalised exercise program to help keep you on track while you are homebound
  • LeisureFit@Home App: Access a number of free home workout videos led by LeisureFit trainers
  • Les Mills on Demand: Free access to 100+ Les Mills workouts so you can continue your favourite group exercise in the comfort of your own home

Access these services from our LeisureFit@Home page on our website.

We will continue to work towards a progressive opening of our facilities during Phase 3 and are looking forward to welcoming our members back when we reopen. We thank you for your support, patience and understanding during this time.

Further information will communicated to our members and published on our website in due course.
