Power House Vocalists to Rock Point Walter Concert

23 January 2019

One of Australia’s best tribute bands and a Perth powerhouse duo are set to bring the house down at this year’s Point Walter Concert on Sunday, 3 March 2019.

The All Star Supergroup Tribute Band will kick off the night with their tributes to seven of the world’s biggest acts, including David Bowie, Blondie, Robbie Williams, Dire Straits, Oasis, Madonna and the Rolling Stones.

Following on will be a powerful performance by Perth-based AViiDA, who smashed their way through 2015’s The Voice, performed at the Bledisloe Cup and appeared on We Will Rock You and various Broadway shows.

Melville’s very own pub choir will also perform for the first time, having been established this year at Clancy’s Fish Pub under the guidance from renowned conductors Jim Fisher and Natalie Gillespie.

City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the Point Walter Concert was the City’s flagship event, with thousands of people flocking to the event each year, always held on the Sunday before Labour Day.

“Our Point Walter Concert always attracts large crowds and last year was no exception, with more than 12,000 people joining us for on the grass banks of Point Walter Reserve for an evening of free music, dancing, entertainment and fireworks,” Mayor Aubrey said.

“This year promises to be even better, with an impressive line-up of national and internationally recognised music acts and radio talent Ross Wallman from Nova 93.7 returning to host.

“There will be plenty of activities for the whole family, including face painting, a bouncy castle and various pop-up information stalls to visit, as well as plenty of food trucks and a popcorn and fairy floss stall to satisfy rumbling tummies.

“Ending the night will be a grand fireworks finale above the river, which is guaranteed to captivate everyone, young and old.”

The Point Walter Concert is a free, accessible, family-friendly event sponsored by Lotterywest and will be held at the Point Walter foreshore, Bicton on Sunday, 3 March 2019, from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.

Free public parking will be available along Attadale foreshore, with free shuttle buses running to and from the event throughout the evening. Parking on private verges is prohibited and some road closures will also be in place.
