What Is Being Proposed?

An Activity Centre Plan (ACP) for the Kardinya District Centre has been submitted to the City of Melville. Prepared by a major landowner within the Kardinya District Centre, subsequent to recent development approval for expansion of the Kardinya Park Shopping Centre, it contains proposals which will guide the future development of the District Centre and the adjoining residential area within an approximate radius of 400m from the centre. These include future land uses, built form, building height and residential densities within the ACP area.

Community Involvement

The community were able to share their feedback about the proposed Activity Centre Plan (ACP) for the Kardinya District Centre via an online form. Submissions closed at 4 pm Thursday, 3 September 2020.

FAQs

Who did we engage with and why?

We engaged with the community via Melville Talks on the City of Melville website and on social media asking for feedback on the proposed ACP.

Letters have been sent to:

  • all properties within the proposed ACP boundary 
  • properties immediately adjoining the proposed ACP
  • properties within 400m of the District Centre that have not been included within the proposed ACP

Under the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 the City is required to advertise for community review and comment any ACP received by the City. 

How can you get involved?

The community can make a submission during the engagement period about the proposed ACP via:

  • Melville Talks using the online submission form
  • By email: melinfo@melville.wa.gov.au
  • By letter to: Chief Executive Officer, City of Melville, Locked Bag 1, Booragoon WA 6954
What happens with submissions?

The City will consider submissions received in determining its position in relation to the proposed ACP. The outcomes of submissions received will be incorporated into a report to the Council for consideration. A report will then be forwarded to the WAPC with recommendations in relation to the proposed ACP.

A schedule of submissions will be prepared including the City’s response to each submission and this along with a copy of submissions will be provided to the WAPC.

Who is the decision maker?

The decision maker is the Western Australian Planning Commission. The City will provide a report to the WAPC recommending a decision the City considers is appropriate.
