What is Being Proposed?

We are proposing to name the park at 58-60 Murray Road, Bicton, a former Western Power site which has been unofficially described as Bicton Park.

Selected from the Council's adopted Schedule of Names, to meet the naming requirements of Council Policy No. CP- 096, and Landgate’s Geographical Names Committee Polices and Standards, the proposed names are:

Thank you for sharing your preferred name for the park at 58-60 Murray Road, Bicton. Submissions closed at 4pm on Tuesday, 23 June 2020. We received 246 submissions from the community.

Your submissions will be used in the decision making process which will ultimately require Council endorsement.

How We Are Engaging With You

Who did we engage with and how?

We engaged with the community to determine the preferred name for naming the park at 58-60 Murray Road, Bicton.

All residents and ratepayers with properties abutting the park have been invited to get involved via letter. A public notice has also been placed in the Melville Gazette along with signage placed on-site and email invitations sent to people living within 400m of the park. In addition the engagement will be shared on City of Melville social media.

How could you get involved?

The community are invited to share their feedback on the proposed names using the form above.

What will happen with the feedback from the community?

Feedback from the community will be reported to Council who will make the final decision to endorse the proposed name. The City will then refer the details of the proposal; any submissions received and the minutes of the Council meeting to Landgate for consideration and final approval of the Geographic Names Committee.
