PLEN is a national collaboration of public libraries working together to better understand and demonstrate the value of library services in local communities. It provides a shared framework for evaluating community outcomes, helping libraries improve, advocate, and plan for the future.
This review is part of a national effort to gather consistent feedback from library users about how libraries support learning, wellbeing, digital inclusion, and community connection. Your input helps libraries reflect real community needs and make evidence-based decisions.
The evaluation will help:
- Show how libraries support digital inclusion, literacy, and learning
- Highlight the role of libraries in creating safe, welcoming spaces
- Measure impact on wellbeing, confidence, and community connection
- Inform planning and service delivery at local and national levels
- Strengthen the case for funding, innovation and improvement.
No. The survey is anonymous, and no personal or identifying information will be shared. All responses are grouped and analysed at a community level to protect individual privacy.
This is a national initiative, and the City of Melville is participating as part of the Public Libraries Evaluation Network. The engagement is being delivered with external support, but our library team remains actively involved.
