Last Updated: 29 October 2025 Follow EngagementThe City of Melville is reviewing the programs and services provided at Blue Gum Community Centre and Willagee Community Centre. With funding recently renewed through the Department of Communities’ Empowering Communities Program, we want to ensure these multipurpose centres continue to meet our community’s needs now and into the future.
Our community centres serve as inclusive hubs that celebrate diversity. They offer a variety of programs and partnerships that respond to the strengths and aspirations of the community, foster social connections, and connect people to services. This review provides an important opportunity to reflect on what is currently offered, what’s missing, and what should be considered for the future. At Blue Gum Community Centre, the timing is especially significant as the centre is currently being refurbished. Its reopening will be a chance to refresh program delivery, explore new opportunities, and ensure activities meet the needs of the whole community.
The Willagee Community Centre also continues to evolve, with growing demand on space making it essential to evaluate existing programs and ensure equitable opportunities for participation across all ages and interests.

How has this project come about? Funding for the centres has recently been renewed through the Department of Communities’ Empowering Communities Program. It has been six years since the last review, and with the refurbishment of Blue Gum Community Centre underway, this is the right time to check in with the community and refresh programs and services.
Which centres are included in the review? This review covers the Blue Gum Community Centre and Willagee Community Centre.
Will existing programs or groups be affected? Some changes may occur as part of ensuring programs and services continue to meet community needs. The refurbishment at Blue Gum also presents an opportunity to refresh program delivery and ensure the centre serves the whole community. If any changes do occur, we will keep our community and user groups informed.
Who can participate? Everyone is welcome to provide feedback. Community members, current and past users of the centres, local groups, and stakeholders.
What will happen with the feedback provided? Community and stakeholder feedback will help us identify what’s working well, what’s missing, and what should be considered for the future. It will also guide decisions about future programs, partnerships, and how space is used at both centres.
What happens after the survey? Once the survey closes, the City will review all feedback and use it to inform program planning and future service delivery. A summary of findings will be shared with the community.
