People Places Participation

The Strategic Community Plan has been leading the direction of the City's priorities, operations, products and services since it was first created in 2007 and has seen many updates in the years following.

The latest review of this Plan in 2016 has led to the current version - A Strategic Community Plan for the City of Melville: People, Places, Participation 2016-2026.

Review of the Plan

The review of the Plan was overseen by a Community Reference Group, consisting of 10 diverse members of the community, to ensure the community was involved in this review from the start.

The Community Reference Group met weekly and helped shape the "Tell the City Where to Go" survey, which asked about individual priorities and preferences. 1,394 people completed the survey.

Finally, a community workshop was held in May 2016, where participants had a final opportunity to think about quality of life and quality of place they wanted to see for the City.

Community Priorities

As a result of consultation, the community highlighted their priorities which has led to the creation of the final six community aspirations:

  • Safe and secure
  • Healthy lifestyle
  • Sense of community
  • Clean and green
  • Growth and prosperity
  • Sustainable and connected transport.
