LeisureFit Booragoon Pools Refurbishment

LeisureFit Booragoon Pools Refurbishment

Exciting changes are in store for the LeisureFit Booragoon pools with a major refurbishment underway.

Project Information

LeisureFit Booragoon will be transformed into a modern, contemporary and accessible new swimming facility. The project involves a major refurbishment of the Leisure Pool, 50m Pool, changing facilities and replacement of the air conditioning and ventilation systems.

Works on the Leisure Pool and 50m Pool are now underway. The Leisure Pool, Children's Water Sprayground and 50m Pool will be temporarily closed while these refurbishments are completed. The entire refurbishment project is estimated to span approximately 62 weeks. We anticipate both our pools to reopen January 2025.

All other facilities at LeisureFit Booragoon including the gym, group fitness studio, indoor cycle studio, wellness studio, group training yard, spa, sauna, steam rooms and crèche will remain open during the refurbishment works.

The exciting new upgrades will include:

  • Walking and lap swimming lanes
  • Improved ‘Learn to Swim’ teaching area
  • Separate warm water pool for rehabilitation, seniors, and baby programs
  • Dedicated toddlers play area, improving safety for younger children
  • Upgraded air handling systems for improved air quality
  • Improved acoustics for a quieter pool environment
  • Renovated change rooms, including new ‘wet and dry’ family change rooms
  • New on-deck showers in Leisure Pool area and leading into 50m pool
  • Accessible ramp entrance added to both Leisure and 50m pools
  • Wheelchair friendly bays and access in pool deck areas
  • Provision of a unisex accessible ‘Changing Places’ change room. We will also be providing gender neutral change rooms and toilet facilities.

Community Consultation

Ongoing feedback from LeisureFit patrons, as well as input from staff and the design consultants has helped shape and guide the pool and change room design process, working within the constraints of the existing building.
The City’s Accessibility Advisory Panel have also provided input into the design. All of the recommendations from the panel have been incorporated into the final design for the refurbishment works.
