As part of the City’s scheduled maintenance plans, a routine inspection of the exterior of the Civic Centre was conducted which identified that the existing compressed fibre cement sheeting (cladding) is at the end of life and requires replacement.
As a result, works to replace the cladding and repairs to the Level 2 balcony will commence in April 2019, and is expected to last six months. The majority of the works will occur during normal business hours, but some works will need to be done outside of hours. A schedule for out of hours works will be posted on this page once final timings are determined.
The Civic Centre will remain open as normal during the works but some pedestrian access will affected. The footpath from Almondbury Road through to the Garden City/Civic Centre Library (between Hoyts and the Civic Centre) will be closed. No other access should be affected. Originally, there was a notice that the accessibility ramp at the front of the Civic Centre would be closed, but instead now a protective gantry will be erected, maintaining the accessibility access at this entrance.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the works and appreciate your patience and understanding while the works are completed.
