As part of the City’s scheduled maintenance plans, a routine inspection of the exterior of the Civic Centre was conducted which identified that the existing compressed fibre cement sheeting (cladding) is at the end of life and requires replacement.
As a result, works to replace the cladding and repairs to the Level 2 balcony is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019 and will take 4 months to complete. Works will occur during normal business hours, with no out-of-hours or weekend work scheduled.
The Civic Centre will remain open during the works but some pedestrian access will affected. The footpath from Almondbury Road through to the Garden City/Civic Centre Library (between Hoyts and the Civic Centre) will be closed. There will also be a temporary closure of the accessibility ramp at the front of the Civic Centre while the works occur to the western face of the building, but access will still be possible via the southern carpark, using the entrance to the Civic Centre near the Main Hall. Signage will be displayed showing the alternate path to this entrance.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the works and appreciate your patience and understanding while the works are completed.

Prior to the works taking place, the City is undergoing noise testing to ascertain the impact of the works on nearby residents, tenants and staff at the Civic Centre. This testing is scheduled for Wednesday, 19 September between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00pm.
