AH Bracks Library and LeisureFit Melville Building Refurbishment

The AH Bracks Library and LeisureFit Melville Building is being refurbished.

Project Information

The building refurbishment includes:

  • Bringing the building ‘up-to-date’ to suit current purpose. It has been 20 years since it had work done
  • Relocating the LeisureFit Melville reception to change direction of the main entrance doors
  • Creating facilities to house the Bridge Club, who will be moving in from another premise
  • A new function room and alfresco area which will be shared with the Bridge Club and that can be booked by the public
  • Increasing multifunctional spaces within AH Bracks Library, including new meeting rooms that can be hired by the public, for use in the day time and after-hours, with tea prep facilities.

Other building works inside the library include:

  • A reading room for newspaper & archives
  • A library lab for discussions (suitable for teenagers)
  • A children’s room (for toddlers & young kids)
  • Extension of the books return room, to accommodate for a new book sorting machine
  • New airlock entrance to the library from the Southern carpark.

The carpark refurbishment includes:

  • Improving drainage
  • Regrading of the ground level to rid bumpiness caused by tree roots
  • Revegetation with eco-friendly water filtering system
  • Relocation of some street lamps in the car park, and resurfacing with bitumen.
