General guidelines of events required to subdivide a property within the City of Melville. A subdivision is used to divide the land into smaller parcels for the purpose of legally registering separate ownership titles.

Property subdivision is governed by the Residential Design Codes (R codes). The potential to subdivide a property is determined by its size and the zoning. You can find out the zoning of your property using the online maps. Once you know the zoning you need to know the minimum lot size.
