Do’s and Don’ts
Remember these simple tips to make your verge collection hassle free.
Do
- Allow five to seven working days for collection.
- Have your waste on the verge by Monday 6.00am on the scheduled start date for your area (including public holidays).
- Ensure your waste pile is no bigger than two (6’x4’) trailer loads or two cubic metres.
- Collections are picked up by mechanical means so ensure all general junk is placed in a separate pile from whitegoods, metal and E-Waste.
- Detach all doors from fridges and freezers.
- Keep checking your pile to ensure compliance
Don't
- Place collections next to trees, power poles, walls, street signs or any other object that may obstruct the waste services vehicle.
- Place your junk and whitegoods/metals on vacant properties, land or public places.
- Obstruct the footpath, your normal bin services or the line of sight of pedestrians, cyclists or cars.
- Place under trees or over sprinklers.
- Place any items on vacant land or in park land.
- Follow your neighbours, always check dates first.
Note: Waste not put out in time for the beginning of the collection will not be collected and must be removed by the resident.
Always check dates before placing items on verge for collection.
Waste is not to be placed on residents’ verges more than seven days prior to their scheduled start date for their area. Verges will be closely monitored by Ranger Services. Households found not complying may be fined up to $1000 or receive a $200 on-the-spot fine under Section 23 of the Litter Act 1979.
