Walking

See how easy it is to start walking. The City of Melville has something to offer all walkers from nature, history and scenery.

Discover why you should walk there today to find thirty.

Walk there today to find thirty encourages Western Australians to be more physically active by walking for transport, health and recreation. Walking is the most popular, accessible, easy and low cost way to be active. The aim is for Western Australian of all ages and abilities to be more active in any way they can and for some that may involved other physical activities.

Both of these messages are part of the Premier’s Physical Activity Taskforce (www.patf.dpc.wa.gov.au) strategy for Western Australians.

Walk There Today

Walk There Today is the promotional message of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure’s (www.dpi.wa.gov.au/walking) walking program, which aims to raise the profile of walking as a legitimate mode of transport to replace short car trips.

Find thirty

Find thirty (www.findthirty.com.au) is the key message behind the Department of Health’s (www.health.wa.gov.au) physical activity campaign, ‘Find thirty. It’s not a big exercise.’, which aims to increase the number of Western Australians who are sufficiently active for good health.

Walking for at least 30 minutes a day is not only a great way to get around, it can also help to improve your health.
