Developments (where the cost exceeds $20,000), swimming pools, spas and ALL demolitions are required to pay a Kerb Security Deposit to the City of Melville.
When demolishing a building you are required to abide by the conditions.
- A deposit must be paid to the City of Melville before works can commence.
- Once your development/demolition application has been approved by Building Services you may commence construction/demolition.
- To apply for a refund of your deposit once works have been completed, please fill in the form Kerb Security Deposit Refund Application.
- On receipt of the above form, our Property/Engineering Technical Officer conduct a site inspection.
- Once approved, a refund will be issued to the payee. If there is damage to the verge area or road surface, monies will be deducted as required and a invoice will be sent to the payee if the amount exceeds the deposit.
Conditions for Demolition
The following regulations must be complied with for the Kerb Security Deposit to be refunded.
- Loading and unloading of steel track machinery on the road surface, without the use of rubber tyres or timbers, will result in no refund of your Kerb Security Deposit.
- Any damage to kerbing or footpaths caused by the demolition must be repaired prior to requesting your refund. If the kerb and/or footpath are not repaired, the cost of repairs will be deducted from the Kerb Security Deposit. If the cost of repairs exceeds the security deposit amount, an invoice will be issued to cover the additional cost.
- Any debris from the demolition, including sand, bricks and timer, must be cleaned from the road and verge area. If this is not complied with, a deduction from the Kerb Security Deposit will be taken.
