The City of Melville's role with regard to dividing fences is to prescribe the minimum standard of fence. Dividing fences are covered by the Dividing Fence Act.
The Department of Housing and Works administers and provides general information on the Dividing Fences Act 1961 to the community and Local Governments.
The Department produces a comprehensive information booklet Dividing Fences –Rights and Responsibilities which is available to download here.
