Community Consultation
The City of Melville is committed to ensuring that the Community is engaged and consulted on issues that affect them.
What does Public Consultation mean?
Public participation (consultation) is both a means and an end. As a means, it is a process through which residents and communities cooperate to provide input into programs and projects. As an end, it empowers residents and communities through the acquisition of skills, knowledge and experience.
In itself, involvement in public
life is a positive outcome as it contributes to a strong society.
It also means decision and policy makers can utilise the contributions
of residents. Source: (2003) Consulting Citizens:A
