The Process
Before determining the outcome of the application for a telecommunications tower at Pt Walter, the City of Melville will have to follow a set process to ensure that the correct decision is determined.
Process
1. Refer Development Application (DA) to Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC).
2. Refer application to the Swan River Trust (SRT) (Clause 30A (1)(a)), Minister for Planning, Culture and the Arts, Environment and Youth;
3. Consultation with community;
4. Planners to assess DA, context, compliance and statutory requirements and submissions;
5. Planning report with recommendation and submissions from community to Elected Members Workshop;
6. Recommendation to be presented to Council (anticipated in April 2011); and
7. Refer Council recommendation to WAPC/SRT.
What Next?
28/2/2011 – End of written submission period. The City of Melville will assess community feedback. Please be assured the City of Melville will take community feedback into account as best as possible.
5/04/2011 – Council Agenda Briefing – City Officers to brief Council Members relating the proposal.
19/4/2011 – Ordinary Meeting of Council – recommendation forwarded to the Western Australian Planning Commission for their final determination.
