Telstra has submitted a Development Application to the Western Australia Planning Commission (WAPC) via the City of Melville for a 46m mobile telecommunication monopole within the Pt Walter Golf Course.
The infrastructure is intended to introduce wireless network coverage in some areas of Bicton that are currently experiencing little or no signal level on handset devices. Its representatives cite coverage advantages through height, and less exposure to emissions as reasons for the selection of the site.
The site within the Golf Course is located 250m north of Reserve Street (closest residential development) and 200m south Point Walter Golf Course Clubhouse. Ground level below the tower is 35m above sea level (total height of tower above sea level is 81 metres to the top of tower). The following is proposed:
- 46m high tower will be a steel or concrete colour depending on the supplier.
- Equipment shelter, colour is stated on the proposed plans as being “pale eucalypt” coloured metal cladding.
-
Telstra compound security fence with three metre wide access gates.
