Canning Bridge Precinct Vision - Public Consultation Summary

Summary of two-month public consultation process.

More than 400 submissions were received for the draft Canning Bridge Precinct Vision.

The two-month public comment period from February to March 2010 resulted in six key topics being identified as matters of public interest.

These are:

  • The Canning Bridge station
  • Cassey Street Bridge
  • Redevelopment along the river
  • Increased building density and heights
  • Traffic and parking
  • Environmental impacts in the area

A government agency transport forum was also held in June 2010 to discuss transport solutions, issues raised in submissions and the role of public transport in the precinct.

A report on the final vision for the Canning Bridge Precinct will be considered by the Cities of Melville and South Perth during the October round of Council meetings and then by the Western Australian Planning Commission in November.

The City of Melville Agenda Briefing Forum was held on Tuesday, 5 October 2010 and the Ordinary Meeting of Council was held on Tuesday, 19 October 2010 at the City of Melville Civic Centre, 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon.

Residents were invited to attend these meetings.
