YAC It Up Gets Crafty
The City of Melville is looking for creative local artists to be a part of the biggest youth festival south of the river.
Anyone interested in fashion, jewellery making or arts and crafts has an opportunity to host their own stall at the 2008 YAC It Up youth concert on Sunday, 30 March at Point Walter Reserve.
The free concert, presented by the Melville Youth Advisory Committee, is celebrating 10 years of music, activities, stalls, rides and arts and crafts. Past events have seen bands such as Jebediah, Spiderbait, Eskimo Joe and Birds of Tokyo perform on the main stage.
Community Development Officer – Youth, Jo McKay said YAC It Up would be a great platform for aspiring designers and artists. “Artists will have an opportunity to get their work out in the public to a crowd of up to 8000 people,” she said. “It will offer them great exposure to a diverse range of people in a vibrant and fun atmosphere.”
The City of Melville is especially encouraging young people and community groups who might be interested in holding a stall to apply.
Expressions of interest close on Friday, 22 February with only limited places available.
