Term Two Social English Classes Commence 5 May 2011
The City of Melville is inviting people who speak English as a second language to join the popular Social English classes starting Thursday, 5 May 2011 and running for 10 weeks until Friday, 8 July 2011.
The classes come in three formats: Beginner’s Conversation, Intermediate Conversation and Grammar. The lessons are held at the Melville, Booragoon and Willagee locations respectively.
Mayor Russell Aubrey said the classes recognised the multicultural nature of the City of Melville.
“Western Australia has the largest proportion of overseas born people in Australia, making up 27 per cent of the State’s total population. Similarly, the City of Melville has a wide variety of cultures,” he said.
“Attendees to the classes will have the opportunity to make new friends and learn new language skills.”
The Social English students come from many different countries, including people from China, Melville’s predominant migrant group.
All classes cost $5.50 per class or $44.00 for a 10 week term. Classes run during the school term and there is no need to book. For more information, call 1300 635 845 or go to: www.melvillecity.com.au/socialenglish
