Student Photographs Snap up Prizes
The City of Melville has announced the winners of Snap Your City, a creative photographic competition for primary and secondary school students living and studying in the City.
Creativity, composition and an accompanying description were used by the City of Melville’s Youth Advisory Committee to judge the photographic entries. The primary and secondary schools with the highest number of entries won an iPad2 and the best student entrants won a digital camera each.
City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said all entries were of a high standard and the photographs provided a valuable contribution to the City’s Strategic Community Plan: People, Places, Participation.
“As well as prizes and the opportunity to showcase their talents, the City of Melville recognises that young people represent the future, so hearing what they love about the area and what they would like to improve is important input to the future direction of the City,” he said.
“On behalf of the City, I would like to congratulate the winning schools and students for their entries and thank all entrants for their participation and efforts.
“I encourage everyone to visit the City of Melville website to see the entries and please look out for the winning photographs in our bi-monthly newsletter Mosaic, due out at the end of July.”
Deputy Mayor Clive Robartson visited Corpus Christi on Wednesday, 23 May 2012 and presented the prizes for winning school and winning student Sarah Goodwin.
Mayor Russell Aubrey will be attending assembly on Tuesday, 5 June at 2.15pm at the winning school Ardross Primary and on Friday, 15 June at 9.00am at West Leeming Primary School to present to the winning student Stacey Collier.
An online gallery is available at www.melvillecity.com.au/snapyourcity where the photographic entries from the competition are displayed.
