Sculpture Walk 2011 at Kadidjiny Park
The City of Melville has invited residents and visitors to this year’s Sculpture Walk, opening Friday, 11 March 2011 at Kadidjiny Park in Melville.
Sculpture Walk 2011 will exhibit works by 20 West Australian artists, with the sculptures taking inspiration from Kadidjiny Park.
Mayor Russell Aubrey said the free event was a popular part of the annual calendar and artworks would be available for sale.
“The Sculpture Walk 2011 is in its eighth year and is designed to profile emerging sculptors,” he said.
“The exhibition makes for a striking and interesting display, set in the stunning surrounds of Kadidjiny Park.”
City of Melville Community Development Officer (Arts) Hannah Katarski said this year’s sculptures were made from a variety of materials.
“Works are made from: steel, raku clay, mosaic, natural fibres and even tea towels,” she said.
“Visitors will be able to experience an exciting and diverse range of artworks which comment on the Kadidjiny Park location, its history as a school and the meaning of its name; learning, thinking, listening.”
Parking is available and the venue is wheelchair-accessible, with public toilets nearby.
Sculpture Walk 2011 is free and will run from Saturday, 12 March 2011 to Sunday, 10 April 2011 at Kadidjiny Park on the corner of Curtis and Kitchener Roads in Melvillle (next door to Melville Primary School).
The Official Opening is on Friday, 11 March at 6pm. RSVPs are required to 1300 635 845.
