Safety and Sirens a Great School Holiday Event
The City of Melville invited children aged four to 12 years to attend one of two fun Safety and Sirens events on Friday, 14 January 2010 with a local police officer, a fireman, a police car and fire truck.
The event gave children the opportunity to hear about safety tips in their neighbourhood and get up close to the equipment on a police car and fire truck.
Mayor Russell Aubrey said the City of Melville was a relatively safe place to live but children should never be complacent about important safety issues.
“The Safety and Sirens information sessions provided children with information such as stranger danger and fire safety,” he said.
“Children also asked the police officer and fireman questions, and saw the police car with its lights and sirens on, and got a tour of the impressive fire truck.”
The activity was open to all children aged four to 12 and is part of the City’s partnership agreement with WA Police in order to achieve a Safer Melville.
Safety and Sirens was free and was held on Friday, 14 January 2011 at Willagee Library, Corner Archibald and Winnacott Streets, Willagee from 9.30am to 10.30am.
The session was held later the same day at AH Bracks Library, corner Stock Road and Canning Highway, Melville from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
Please note that children who attended Safety and Sirens were accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
