Residents Invited to Neighbourhood Forums to Revise the Community Plan
Residents, businesses, organisations and community groups are invited to join a neighbourhood forum on Wednesday, 1 or Thursday, 2 February 2012 to tell the City of Melville what they love most about the City and what they would like improved.
The primary aim of the forums is to determine whether the 10-year strategic objectives in the City’s original 2007 Community Plan (People, Places, Participation) are still valid.
Four years ago the community identified nine priorities under the themes of social and cultural well-being, economic well-being and environmental well-being – using these priorities as a reference point the City will ask ‘Where are we?’ and ‘Where do we want to go?’
Some of the specific questions asked will include, ‘Why did you choose the suburb you live in?’, ‘What would like to see more of in the City?’, "What should be done differently?’
City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said, "I encourage everyone in the community to step forward for these forums and tell us about the direction you want the City to go in. Make sure your voice or your group’s voice is heard as part of this important planning.
"Your feedback will influence the City’s decision-making and actions for years to come, including parks and environment, community infrastructure use, disability services, and seniors and young peoples’ programs, to name a few."
The neighbourhood forums will be hosted as open day events from 3.00pm to 7.00pm at the Willagee Community Centre, with creche facilities, on Wednesday, 1 February 2012 and on Thursday, 2 February 2012 at the Civic Centre Conference Room, which will be a child-friendly environment, at 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon.
No RSVPs are required and people are encouraged to drop-in at any convenient time. Refreshments will be provided.
