Residents Elect New Mayor in the City of Melville
Russell Aubrey is set to be sworn in as the new Mayor of the City of Melville tonight (Monday, 22 October) following the local government elections on Saturday, 20 October.
The Bull Creek-Leeming Ward Councillor defeated incumbent Mayor Katherine Jackson by gaining 55 per cent of the primary vote in the Mayoral election.
The City will also have three new Councillors with Nicholas Pazolli (Applecross-Mt Pleasant Ward), Guy Wieland (Bicton-Attadale Ward) and Rasa Subramaniam (Bull Creek-Leeming Ward) winning their respective seats.
Councillors Tony Ceniviva (City Ward) and Christine Halton (Palmyra-Melville-Willagee Ward) retained their seats while Cr Mark Reynolds was re-elected unopposed in University Ward. The Elected Members’ terms are for four years, expiring 15 October 2011.
