City of Melville ratepayer Marjorie Hill was yesterday (Thursday, 18 November) rewarded with a $3000 Bonus Saver Account from Westpac Banking Corporation for paying her rates early.

Mayor Russell Aubrey, Chief Executive Officer Dr Shayne Silcox and Westpac Transactional Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking James Tarrant presented Mrs Hill of Palmyra with her prize at the City’s Civic Centre.

Mayor Aubrey said anyone who paid their rates before the early payment date automatically went into the draw to win the annual $3000 Westpac Bonus Saver Account.

“The City congratulates Mrs Hill on her fantastic win and continues to encourage residents to pay their rates early because it’s a more affordable option than paying by instalments,” he said.

“Having a prize, like the Westpac Bonus Saver Account, also provides residents with an extra incentive to pay their rates in this way. The City prefers to receive residents’ rates money early so that it has the funds to pay for its ongoing operations.

Mrs Hill said she was “delighted” to be told of her win.

“I have never won anything before,” she said. “The $3000 is a very nice surprise and will cover the cost of the artificial turf I have recently installed.”

Westpac Transactional Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking James Tarrant said, “Westpac is pleased to present this $3000 Westpac Bonus Saver Account to Mrs Hill. “I thank Mrs Hill for paying her rates early because this helps the City of Melville pay for the cost of its 209 products and services.”
