Notice of intention to levy Differential rates

The City of Melville is in the process of finalising its Budget for the 2007/2008 Financial Year. The Funding Proposals include the following estimates in relation to each rating category for Gross Rental Value Differential Rates and Minimum Rates.


All Improved Land

Improved land which incorporates General Residential, Duplex, Multi Unit, Strata Properties, Homeswest, General Industrial, Commercial, Service Station, Hotel / Tavern, TAB and Hospital is proposed to have a rate in the dollar of 6.45924 cents on Gross Rental Values with a Minimum Rate of $500.00 per lot, location or other piece of land.

All Unimproved Land

Unimproved Land which incorporates General Residential, Duplex, Multi-Unit, Strata Properties, Homeswest, General Industrial, Commercial, Service Station, Hotel / Tavern, TAB and Hospital is proposed to have a rate in the dollar of 7.100 cents on Gross Rental Values with a Minimum Rate of $550.00 per lot, location or other piece of land.

The proposal outlined above includes an increase of 6.85% on the rate in the dollar levied on Improved Land in 2006/2007 to fund operations, capital works and special projects.

A Statement of Objects and Reasons for adopting these differential and minimum rates has been prepared and is available for inspection at the Civic Centre, 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon between 8.30am and 5.00pm and at City of Melville Public Libraries during normal opening hours.

Submissions are invited from any Elector or Ratepayer with respect to the proposed rates and any related matters within twenty one (21) days of the date of this notice.

All comments should be forwarded no later than 5.00pm on Monday, 11 June 2007.
