Multi-Purpose Venue To Be Created from Vault Youth Space

Published Date: 21 December 2011, 12:00 AM

The City of Melville’s Vault Youth Space will be redeveloped into a vibrant, multi-purpose venue in the New Year.

The refurbishment will take approximately six months and the newly revamped space will provide a venue for entertainment and casual hire use with the capacity to host 100 people.

The proposed works include: accessible toilets, a new kitchenette, storage space, a portable stage, new flooring and one meeting room for casual hire.

Mayor Russell Aubrey said the opportunity to create the multi-purpose space came from a survey conducted with young people in 2010.

“In the Directions for Young People 2010-2013 survey, youth said they would prefer multiple youth-friendly facilities, which allow many different groups to enjoy a space together,” he said.

“Young people remain a high-priority for the City and we will continue to welcome them to youth-friendly events at the newly-renovated venue.”

Once the renovation is completed, a launch event will be held to show off the new facility.

Great to see this project progressing. Look forward to seeing the activation of the space, which is in such an ideal central location, for many groups including young people.
