Melville Aquatic Fitness Centre Celebrates Fifth Birthday
The community is invited to help Melville Aquatic Fitness Centre celebrate its fifth birthday on Sunday, 18 March.
The centre is holding an open day with free entry between noon and 2:00pm. There will be a range of free family activities, including a super aqua inflatable, bouncy castle and face painting as well as fairy floss and a super-size birthday cake. Visitors will also have a chance to win one of 30 door prizes, including a Nintendo Wii, an adult mountain bike and Asics sneakers.
Mayor Katherine Jackson said over the past five years, more than 2.5 million people had visited the centre to improve their health and fitness and have fun. “The centre continues to attract a diverse cross section of people from the local community, providing programs for all age groups from infants to seniors,” she said. “The centre represents our commitment to encouraging higher rates of physical activity and better health and fitness.”
The centre’s facilities include a 50m eight-lane heated pool, 25m leisure pool, fully equipped gymnasium, group training studio, spa-sauna-steam room, meeting rooms, a crèche and café. The aquatic centre also runs swim school programs for all ages and swim squads.
