Mayor Releases Annual Report and Describes Year of Growth
The Mayor has released the City of Melville’s Community Annual Report 2009-2010 to residents at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, 1 December 2010.
Speaking at the AGM, the Mayor welcomed attending residents and said the City was experiencing a period of “rapid growth”.
“It’s been an exciting year of rapid growth with: Fiona Stanley Hospital and the Murdoch Activity Centre under construction; draft planning for the Canning Bridge Rail Precinct; and the opening of the spectacular 3.8 hectare Kadidjiny Park in Melville” he said.
“With such a vast array of activities and changes in the City, residents have needed to be adaptable, open minded and patient. Pleasingly, a recent independent survey shows that 96 per cent of respondents are satisfied with their overall quality of life in the City.”
Although the AGM had a minimal turnout of only 13 residents, those in attendance asked a range of questions covering topics such as: road resurfacing; the mobile phone tower application for Point Walter; financial reports and investments; and heights in the draft planning for the Canning Bridge Precinct.
“The City was pleased to respond to the questions poised by residents and the answers are available on our website. The City is committed to a transparent and accountable relationship with residents and encourages an ongoing dialogue,” the Mayor said.
