Published Date: 20 October 2009, 12:00 AM

The City of Melville’s Little Hands Children’s Festival, proudly supported by Lotterywest, is set to entertain and inspire the young and ‘young at heart’ from 10.00am to 2.00pm on Sunday, 1 November 2009 at Wireless Hill Park, Ardross.

Community Events Officer Kate Schilling said the Little Hands Children’s Festival aimed to bring the community together to take part in a range of hands-on activities. “With highlights such as a bouncy castle, circus skills workshop, animal nursery, reptile display, arts and crafts, face-painting, balloon-modelling, donkey cart rides and much more, children and young families will be endlessly entertained,” she said. “A number of community groups will also be there to offer an array of valuable information to families.”

“This free family event, now in its fifth year, moves to a new location within the City of Melville each year to highlight the various assets, groups and the built environment within different neighbourhoods. Residents can look forward to this year’s event at Wireless Hill Park, Ardross. Parking is available at the City of Melville Civic Centre, with a free shuttle bus to take event-goers to and from the festivities at Wireless Hill Park,” she said.

Mayor Russell Aubrey said the Little Hands Children’s Festival was a great way to celebrate the role children played in our community, as part of 2009 Children’s Week. “The Little Hands Festival offers a fantastic, fun day out for the whole family and is a major event on the City of Melville’s calendar,” he said. “I encourage City of Melville locals and visitors alike, to come along to Wireless Hill Park and enjoy the range of amusing activities, informative community displays and engaging entertainment on offer.”
