Highest Ever Result for A Season for Giving
The City of Melville’s Lifestyle Services has raised a staggering $25,257.20 in cash and gift donations in its annual Season for Giving Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) charity drive.
The City’s Lifestyle Services department coordinated the drive for RMHC - an independent, non-profit organisation that supports seriously ill children and their families, while the children are undergoing treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital.
The Christmas toys, food items, and cash cheque were delivered to RMHC on Thursday, 22 December 2011 when Lifestyle Services’ employees prepared a delicious barbeque dinner and met with the families supported by RMHC.
City of Melville Lifestyle Services’ Charity Drive Coordinator Julian Pace said, "I would like to thank the residents and businesses who supported A Season for Giving so generously. We have easily surpassed last year’s total and the gifts have been put to good use over the holiday period.
"Once again it was an amazing experience to meet with the families at RMHC and the positive response was a wonderful reward and reinforced the true meaning of Christmas."
RMHC Relationship Manager Rebecca Stott said, "The support we receive from the City of Melville is incredible – not only the financial contribution but all the goodies that will fill our cupboards for the entire year. It really does help to ease the pressure for these families and we couldn’t do it without people like them!"
In the previous year of fundraising the City raised $21,000 worth of goods, services and cash or $4,257.20 less than this year.
RMHC's programs include: Ronald McDonald Houses; Learning Programs; Family Rooms; Cord Blood Bank; Family Retreats and Grants.
During the fundraising, the City accepted gifts and cash from residents and businesses at the Melville Recreation Centre, Stock Road, Melville and the Melville Aquatic Fitness Centre, Marmion Street, Booragoon.
Received goods included: services in-kind; cash; soup; tinned tuna; biscuits; dishwashing tablets and liquid; tomato sauce; paper rolls; cake and muffin mixes; dry pasta; pasta sauce; mini toiletries and gift vouchers.
Stormbox, Dingo Promotions, Canon Foods, Corporate Commercial Finance, Moly Mines Limited, Airconomic, Azure Capital and Interpeople sponsored the drive.
