Film Festival Kicks Off with Irish Fun
The City of Melville’s 2010 Film Festival opening will officially launch with an Irish-themed opening night from 5.30pm on Friday, 10 September 2010.
Tickets are now on sale for the event which will kick-off with Irish dancing and music from Irish band, The Healys. Those who attend will have the chance to enjoy drinks and canapés, followed by the award-winning Irish film The Eclipse.
Mayor Russell Aubrey encouraged residents to attend the opening night and said it was a great launch into the free films being held in community parks this summer.
“The Film Festival will, as always, offer exciting new release films to residents and, for the first time ever, will be located in a variety of local neighbourhood parks,” he said. “With around 400 people expected to attend each of the screenings, the City of Melville’s Film Festival continues to be a free and popular community draw card. The change to several neighbourhood venues, instead of just one location, will be more convenient for attendees and will also allow local community groups to become involved in providing the entertainment and catering. The program of screenings is released later in the year to take advantage of the latest releases.”
The City of Melville 2010 Film Festival Opening Night will be held at the Nexus Theatre, Murdoch University, South Street, Murdoch. Tickets are: $20 per person (no concessions) and include the film, Irish entertainment, drinks and canapes. Bookings are essential on 1300 635 845 for the strictly 18+ event.
