Exhibition of Hundreds of Artists Opens
One of the most prestigious events on the City of Melville calendar, the annual Art Awards Exhibition, will be freely open to the public on Saturday, 28 May, showcasing hundreds of WA artists across 14 categories.
Two hundred and eighty artists have contributed pieces to this exhibition including acrylic; oil; pastel; watercolour; mixed media; photography; textiles; sculpture/3D; and work on paper.
Mayor Russell Aubrey said the artworks were of a very high standard showing a range of expressions across an array of themes.
“I’m sure everyone will find something to fall in love with at this exhibition with the work featuring ocean and landscapes, abstract and functional sculptures, photography, graphic designs on canvas and more,” he said.
“We’ve been so pleased with the standard and number of artists who have come forward for this annual event. I hope all City of Melville residents will make an opportunity to share the experience.”
Artist accolades and cash prizes between $500 and $1,500 will be announced at the invitation-only opening for artists on Friday, 27 May.
Among the award categories are Youth; Work by City of Melville Resident; People’s Choice; Judges’ Choice and the Wireless Hill Award.
