Councillor Clive Robartson Elected Deputy Mayor
The longest currently serving elected member, Councillor Clive Robartson AM LGM, has been elected Deputy Mayor by his fellow Councillors at a Declaration of Office Ceremony on Monday, 17 October 2011 in Council chambers.
Cr Robartson is the member for the Bull Creek – Leeming Ward and was previously elected Deputy Mayor in 1993 and in 2005.
The committed member was originally elected to Council from 1982 until 1987, when he voluntarily stood down for family reasons.
However, in 1990 he was once again elected Councillor for the Bull Creek – Leeming Ward and has been continually re-elected to this position to the present day.
A Bull Creek resident for nearly 40 years, Cr Robartson’s passions include environment and waste management and the City of Melville Citizens Relief Fund (Inc). Cr Robartson chairs this community-managed fund which has distributed over $490,000 in financial relief to citizens of the City.
Cr Robartson has completed a term as President of the Western Australian Local Government Association and Chairman of the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council during it’s early development and is currently the City’s representative. He is the Local Government representative on the Perth Region Natural Resource Management Council, a member of the Local Government House Trust and a National Director of the Order of Australia Association.
His term of office expires in 2013.
