Community Centre Set to Entertain These School Holiday
Willagee Community Centre has a great range of free activities to keep the kids entertained these school holidays.
From learning circus tricks, creating unique woodwork pieces and learning the martial arts inspired dance style capoeira, the activities offer a great range of entertainment for children.
The workshops will be held on the following dates:
- Circus Workshop – Monday, 14 April from 10.00am to noon
- Capoeira Workshop – Tuesday, 15 April and Wednesday, 23 April, from noon to 1.15pm
- Woodwork Workshop – Monday, 21 April from 10.00am to noon
Community Development Co-ordinator Lesley Gilroy said the activies were suitable for children from four to 14 years. “The Willagee Community Centre is expected to be buzzing these holidays with these great activities,” she said. “Numbers are limited so we recommend you book as soon as possible.”
This year has been very busy for the community centre with it celebrating its first anniversary since the City of Melville regained management of the centre in January as well as launching its community newsletter.
The centre also offers a number of regular activities such as playgroups, financial counselling, a weight-loss program, badminton, Irish dancing, calisthenics, an art group and yoga. It hosts Willagee Alive meetings, fortnightly health and well being talks and is home to a gardening group.
The school holiday activities are part of the community centre’s efforts to connect the Willagee community through vibrant and inclusive community based activities.
