The City of Melville invites members of the general public, who are interested in the development of the area surrounding the new Fiona Stanley Hospital, to attend a community briefing on Tuesday, 17 May 2011.

At the briefing, information will be provided on the Murdoch Centre Structure Plan, which will guide future development of the area encompassing: Murdoch Train Station; St John of God Hospital; the new Fiona Stanley Hospital (opening 2014); major educational establishments at Murdoch University; and Challenger Institute of Technology; parts of the communities of Bateman, Bullcreek and North Lake and other facilities in the surrounding area.

Mayor Russell Aubrey said the information session was an important part of the consultation process with the public.

“The City, the Western Australian Planning Commission and Murdoch University have appointed consultant Hames Sharley to prepare and deliver the structure plan,” he said.

“I encourage anyone interested in finding out more about this landmark development to attend this important briefing.

“The development of the Murdoch Centre will impact on the City of Melville community and the wider south west portion of the metro area. The Centre will become a focus for medical and education uses in the region.

“This is an exciting time for the City and its residents and we are particularly keen to involve those people living in the surrounding area of the Murdoch Centre.”

The community briefing will be held on Tuesday, 17 May 2011 at 6.45pm at the Bull Creek Community Centre on the corner of Hassell Crescent and Leichardt Street, Bull Creek. RSVPs are not required.
