City’s Lifestyle Services Nominated for National Fitness Award

It has been announced today (Wednesday, 7 September 2011) the City of Melville’s Lifestyle Services has been nominated for a national health and fitness industry award, in the over 2000 members category, after winning the WA category on Thursday 1 September 2011.

The City’s Lifestyle Services, comprising the Melville Recreation Centre in Melville and Melville Aquatic Fitness Centre in Booragoon, will now be judged against fellow state winners from across Australia in its bid to win the national award, to be announced on 14 October 2011.

Mayor Russell Aubrey said, “We are very proud of Lifestyle Services and the outstanding range of services it offers to its loyal clientele - so we’re delighted to win the state award for Fitness Business of the Year, against all other entrants.”

“Melville Aquatic Fitness Centre was recognised by Fitness Australia for its $5 million upgrade, which is currently underway, and includes an expanded gym, fitness and cycling studios, an interactive outdoor water program and a dedicated wellness area. The regular newsletters, morning teas and guest speakers keep members informed and give a sense of community. “Upon receiving the award, Melville Recreation Centre was commended for its extensive fundraising efforts, including raising $21,000 for registered charity Ronald McDonald House.”

The Health and Fitness Industry Awards, organised by national health and fitness industry association Fitness Australia, award excellence and celebrate the outstanding contributions of individuals and businesses. Award winners must demonstrate excellence in quality service, customer care, commitment to industry standards, professionalism and safety.

Fitness Australia CEO Lauretta Stace said, “These awards recognise those at the top of their profession who go above and beyond expectations for their clientele. Through new initiatives, hard work and a passion for health and fitness, these are the organisations that deliver a great service within their community and are a credit to the fitness industry.”
