City Screams Gotcha at Selfless Willagee Residents
Willagee residents are encouraged to be on the look out for random acts of good will in the community.
Supported by the Willagee Community Centre, Gotcha! is a new initiative organised by Willagee Alive and sponsored by Jeremiah Real Estate to celebrate acts of kindness by people in the Willagee community.
The initiative encourages community members to nominate Willagee residents that they see helping out in the local community.
Mayor Russell Aubrey said the City of Melville supported any organisation that tried to make the community a better place to live. “Unfortunately, the City often hears about the negatives that go on in the community,” he said. “Gotcha! is a positive initiative that will reward some of the hidden good acts that happen in our community and go unnoticed.”
Nomination forms are available from the Willagee Community Centre and Library and Jeremiah Real Estate. Winners will be eligible for one-of-three $20 gift vouchers each month to spend at selected local businesses.
Community Development Coordinator Lesley Gilroy said Willagee Alive was a group of local residents passionate about Willagee. “The group meets regularly at the Willagee Community Centre to discuss issues, plan community events and share ideas that help make Willagee a great place to live,” she said. “Willagee Alive has organised some very successful events and programs in the past, including the Willagee Treasures Calendar, a newsletter and carols by candlelight.”
Jeremiah Real Estate property consultant Vicki Maxfield said the local businesses in Willagee had been very supportive of Gotcha!. “Most of the businesses on Archibald Street have welcomed the program and are keen to be involved,” she said.
