City Libraries Upgrade To Superior Software

Published Date: 12 June 2009, 09:26 AM

The City of Melville is set to install a new, globally-recognised software system across its five libraries. The software will be installed from Monday, 29 June to Wednesday, 1 July 2009, during which time the City’s libraries will temporarily close.

Mayor Russell Aubrey said City of Melville libraries were the first in WA to use this globally-recognised system of choice. “The new system will assist the City’s libraries in continuing to provide the best possible service for customers,” he said. “Our libraries are very progressive, so the implementation of a new system will help staff to continue to deliver offerings which go above and beyond books alone.”

Coordinator Library Services Clare Coney reassured locals their libraries would be right back, better than ever, after the implementation of the brand new library management system. “The new system will support future benefits to library customers, such as SMS notifications and increased security, while providing a necessary upgrade to the current system,” she said. “As the system will be new to library staff, we ask customers to please keep in mind we will be doing our best to get up-to-speed as quickly as possible.”

Residents should note that all five libraries, including AH Bracks, Bull Creek, Canning Bridge, Civic Square and Willagee, will re-open at 10.00am on Thursday, 2 July 2009.
