City Appeals for Help Catching Point Walter Golf Course Vandal
The City of Melville is appealing to the public for information on a vandal who is destroying the carefully-tended golfing greens at Point Walter Golf Course (PWGC) by riding a blue trail bike across them.
The PWGC has received four strikes over the past three weeks with the greens receiving deep gouges over large surfaces.
Mayor Russell Aubrey said the vandal usually comes across the course from Stock Road between 3.30pm to 6.00pm.
“The person wears a white helmet and rides a blue trail bike,” he said.
“The damage inflicted to the PWGC greens is expensive and time-consuming to repair. Of course, it is also highly disruptive for our golfers and the public.
“The rider is very deliberately slowing down on the bike to cause as much damage as possible. He/she appears to be getting a thrill out of causing needless damage to a very important community facility.
“Someone must hear the trail bike start up and leave the house and come back in the area. The City wants to catch this person and charge them with the damage bill.
“A report has been lodged with Crime Stoppers and we are appealing to the community for any information they may have about the vandal.”
Anyone with information about the trail bike rider is urged to contact the City of Melville on 1300 635 845 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
