Children Invited to See Chickens Hatching at City Libraries
Children are invited to four of the City of Melville’s five libraries to watch live chickens hatching from their eggs during the July school holidays from Monday, 11 July to Friday, 22 July 2011.
The activity has been organised to provide free, educational fun for children so they can better understand the fascinating life cycle of chickens.
Mayor Russell Aubrey said, “Children will be able to follow the chickens’ progress as they kick their way out of their shells and continue on their journey towards adulthood.”
“We encourage parents to bring their children to four of the City’s five local libraries to witness the amazing spectacle of the baby chickens coming into the world.
“During their visit, parents can borrow a book or other resource from the library thereby encouraging their child to read.
“The City looks forward to welcoming inquisitive children to this fun activity. Perhaps they will be able to answer the time-honoured question of which came first – the chicken or the egg?”
The chickens can be viewed in the following four of the City’s five libraries: A.H Bracks in Melville; Civic Square Library in Booragoon; Bull Creek Library in Bull Creek and the Willagee Library in Willagee from Monday, 11 July 2011 to Friday, 22 July 2011. No RSVP is required.
Please note the Canning Bridge Library will be closed for renovations during this time.
