Businesses Encouraged to Contribute to A Season for Giving
With only $7300 to go to reach the $30,000 target, the City of Melville’s Mayor has today (Friday, 9 December 2011) urged businesses to sponsor the A Season for Giving charity drive to help sick children and their families.
Mayor Russell Aubrey said eight businesses had already demonstrated true Christmas spirit by donating cash, goods and services to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
The City of Melville’s Lifestyle Services is coordinating the drive for RMHC - an independent, non-profit organisation that supports seriously ill children and their families, while the children are undergoing treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital.
"Stormbox, Dingo Promotions, Canon Foods, Corporate Commercial Finance, Moly Mines Limited, Airconomic, Azure Capital and Interpeople are to be commended for their outstanding support of this worthy cause," he said.
"I encourage other businesses to get involved and donate cash or goods and services to this important cause and be rewarded with the knowledge they have helped seriously ill children and their families."
When the City launched A Season for Giving, Stormbox Managing Director Michael Bosic was one of the first Perth business owners to get on board.
"I’m a father-of-two and we live in the City of Melville, in Alfred Cove, so Stormbox immediately decided to support this fundraiser with graphic design, production and print services at no cost to help promote the need for practical items for the festive season," he said.
"Its not too late for any company to donate items or money - this is all about giving kids and their families a Christmas which won’t be ruined by a lack of everyday household goods that most of us take for granted."
A Season for Giving will be accepting gifts from businesses and residents at the Melville Recreation Centre, Stock Road, Melville and the Melville Aquatic Fitness Centre, Marmion Street, Booragoon until Friday 23, December 2011.
Requested items include: cutlery and crockery; soup; tinned tuna; biscuits; dishwashing tablets and liquid; tomato sauce; paper rolls; cake and muffin mixes; dry pasta; pasta sauce; and mini toiletries. Gift vouchers are also needed for: toy stores; restaurants; movies; concerts; sporting events; music; and book stores. Residents are also encouraged to donate cash as RMHC is 100 per cent tax deductable.
RMHC's programs include: Ronald McDonald Houses; Learning Programs; Family Rooms; Cord Blood Bank; Family Retreats and Grants.
