Artists Encouraged to Enter Art Awards
Artists throughout Western Australia are invited today (Tuesday, 22 February 2011) to enter the annual City of Melville Art Awards, to commence on 28 May 2011.
Only the first 280 entries to the Art Awards will be accepted with entries closing on Friday, 6 May 2011.
The Art Awards, one of the most prestigious events in the City’s calendar, is open to both established and emerging artists and offers the opportunity for artists to publically exhibit their works and be in the running for cash prizes between $500 and $1,500.
There are 14 categories: acrylic; oil; pastel; watercolour; mixed media; photography; textiles;sculpture/3D, work on paper; youth; Work by City of Melville resident; People’s Choice; Judges’ Choice and the Wireless Hill Award.
Only one entry is allowed per person, with the adult entry fee $15. Artists aged 15 to 21 years must enter the Youth category, with the entry fee $11. A condition of entry is that adult artists make their artwork available for sale to the public.

The 2011 City of Melville Art Awards exhibition will take place at the City of Melville’s Civic Centre, 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon from Saturday, 28 May to Saturday, 4 June 2011.
