Bull Creek Library Temporarily Closes for Renovations

Bull Creek Library will temporarily close on Monday, 4 September 2017 as comprehensive renovation works commence to upgrade and modernise the Library space. The new look Library is scheduled to re-open mid-November 2017.

The works, which are part of a city-wide library upgrade program, will include a complete interior refurbishment and changes to the layout to increase overall space; allowing for a designated children’s area and improved spaces for studying, reading and relaxing.

City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the changes in store for the Bull Creek Library will provide a modernised, vibrant cultural hub.

“As part of the Future Plans for our libraries, and with the input received from patrons, the new look library has been designed to meet the needs of all our library users, with dedicated zones to accommodate the multi-purposed uses of the modern library,” he said.

“Our libraries are evolving; we have listened to our patrons and we are providing the space and facilities they now need, including access to Wi-Fi and increased power points for charging their devices.”

“We apologise for the inconvenience of closure during the renovations, but encourage the public to make good use of our other libraries – Civic Square, AH Bracks, Canning Bridge and Willagee.”

The refurbishment requirements were identified in the Future Plan for Libraries and Museums, with Bull Creek being the fourth library to undergo improvements. The upgrade program forms part of the larger plan to revitalize City libraries and includes input from community members who took part in the Creative Conversations Cultural Survey earlier in 2017.

During the library closure, all other City of Melville libraries will be open for customers to return and borrow library items. Any reserved items can be collected at any City of Melville library by arrangement.
