Shine a Light on Road Safety Campaign
The Shine a Light on Road Safety campaign aims to raise awareness of road safety, prevent deaths and injuries on our roads and raise funds to support those impacted by road trauma. The campaign coincides with the Fourth United Nations Global Road Safety Week which runs from 8-14 May 2017.
In support of the campaign, the City of Melville would ask drivers to turn on their head lights all day;
“Residents can show their support for the Shine a Light on Road Safety campaign on Friday, 12 May 2017 by driving with their headlights turned on and encouraging family and friends to do the same.” Mayor Aubery said.
The Shine a Light on Road Safety campaign is just one way the City of Melville is working to reduce death and serious injury on our roads. Other road safety projects and initiatives include organisation’s road safety campaigns and initiatives such as implementation of the “Please Slow Down, Consider Our Kids” bin sticker project, Safe Speed Promise and, “I Slow Down in Melvillle ” bumper sticker project, fleet safety initiatives, safe roads and roadsides improvements etc.
